WRC '15 - Nostradamus predicts it all

You often read in the motoring press how difficult it is to predict what will happen in any WRC season, and to the mere mortals among us, that would be true. So we're doomed to wait and see how the championship plays out instead. Right? Well maybe not if we have Nostradamus on the case. A diligent sifting through the great man's quatrains is rewarded by some highly prophetic prose, so sit back and get a sneak peek at what'll transpire in 2015.

Segment of brain ascends majestic peak,
Into the clouded skies and disappears,
To reappear once more abaft the meek,
And thus reduce proponents all to tears.

Clearly this quatrain predicts that on the Monte, despite an early lead, Sebastien Loeb will eventually finish behind rally winner Kris Meeke much to the disappointment of the Frenchman's fans.

In land of ice the battle rages fierce,
Betwixt the knights of north their stout hearts set,
Of fair visage one will his cherry pierce,
And lastly claim the crown not gathered yet.

Obviously, this quatrain refers to the Swedish rally where after a huge fight between Jari-Matti, Andreas, Henning and Mads for the overall honours, Andreas prevails and takes his first ever WRC win at the top level.

Bad fortune strike the one of highest tier,
Onlookers in broad head-piece stare aghast,
The coach proclaims the father of the deer,
And madman proves there be no-one so fast.

Well naturally, this can only mean that rally leader Ogier's Polo breaks on a Mexican stage, while the horrified fans can do nothing to help. Instead, the winner of the round is Mads in his Abu Dhabi sponsored Citroen.

But look, I don't want to spoil it for you, so I'll stop here. Maybe I'll have a crack at decoding a few more quatrains later in the year, but to be honest, since Nostradamus has done most of the work already, it's all a bit of a doddle. You may find his book, "Resultat Futurum Mundus Rallius" in your local library. Or not.

Catch you on the stages. :-)

  1. Are you sure that's a real book?

  2. So Nostradamus was on the money for the Monte. Loeb did lead early, and he finished second on the Power Stage to Meeke. Loeb fans were indeed disappointed.

    Spooky...

Sweden next - will the predictions come true there as well?
